US airline Delta has appointed Richard Michaels as commercial director, UAE and Suresh Anthoney as station manager, Dubai, as it prepares for its inaugural direct flight between Dubai and New York this month.
As commercial director, UAE, Michaels, who has a basic knowledge of Arabic, will oversee all areas of sales activity in Dubai and Abu Dhabi working with corporate and leisure clients to promote Delta's presence on the new route. He will work closely with Dubai-headquartered Sharaf Travel, which continues to handle the sales operations for Delta locally. Anthoney is experienced in all aspects of airport operations and began his career in the airline business in 1984. He will be responsible for overseeing Delta's day-to-day operations of the new service at Dubai Airport. Delta flight DL 121 will leave Dubai for the first time on June 18.
