Le Méridien Al Aqah to undergo extensive refurbishment plan

WITH the World Travel Market (WTM) just around the corner, UAE’s favourite getaway, Le Méridien Al Aqah, is also firming up exciting new plans for its 10th anniversary celebrations and intends to share these concepts at the event.

From sport to social responsibility, the environment-friendly facility remains dedicated to giving a hand to local charities, artists and artisans, further strengthening its image as a hotel with a heart. Al Aqah officials have announced that significant contributions will be made to partner charities, including the Angel Appeal, the Fujairah Special Needs Foundation and the Dibba Orphanage.

All the way to December, it was also announced that several activities will be held in and around the hotel aimed at identifying even more closely with the local community.  For example, the Coast to Coast cycling challenge aims to raise funds for Starwood’s Road to Awareness campaign, while Clean up Arabia will see guests and hotel staff ridding the local waters and beach of debris. A local handicrafts exhibition is also being planned where artisans from across the East Coast are being invited to showcase their talent.

A large celebratory weekend party is also a fixture in December. Loyal guests, partners, supporters and residents of the UAE will be invited to enjoy a wide range of fun activities and events for children and adults.

“By continually upgrading and enhancing facilities and services to ensure the comfort and convenience of all guests, and driving social responsibility and environmental protection on the East Coast, we have managed to stay on top for the past 10 years.  We want our anniversary celebrations to showcase these successes and, at the same time express our gratitude to all those who made this first decade an outstanding success,” said Patrick Antaki, general manager, Le Méridien Al Aqah beach resort.

Also on the agenda at WTM will be a comprehensive detailing of the Dh10 million ($2.7 million) renovation plan that was recently completed at the resort. This enhancement initiative included a complete revamp of the hotel’s popular Views restaurant and the building of wave barriers to protect the hotel’s beachfront. A state-of-the-art interactive kitchen was built for Views in keeping with the hotel’s philosophy of ‘freshly cooked’, allowing guests to now view the chefs in action when they dine at Views.

The hotel entrance and the popular Le Méridien Al Aqah pool, one of the largest in the UAE, were also recently re-tiled and is certain to make quite a splash. A Dh20 million ($5.4 million) room refurbishment plan is also currently under way. This will include repainting of all rooms and upgrades to the in-room furniture and entertainment systems.
