Oman Air renews Sabre agreement

OMAN Air has renewed its reservations technology agreement with Sabre Airline Solutions for the technology driving the airline’s growth and improvements across all its customer-focused operations. Wayne Pearce, chief executive of Oman Air, said: “It is important to work with the right technology partners in such a competitive marketplace.

“Sabre’s stable and well-proven reservations technology means we provide a trouble-free travel experience to our passengers. The technology provides significant value and return on investment, and in turn gives us the flexibility to offer a widening array of other value-added services to our customers.”

This agreement with Oman Air reinforces Sabre’s already strong footprint in the Middle East region, where the company is the preferred technology partner for customer-focused airlines pursuing an aggressive growth strategy.

Shangri-La launches new iPhone app

SHANGRI-LA Hotels and Resorts announced the launch of the first of the two phases of their mobile application (app) for iPhone.

As a natural extension of the brand’s recently revamped website, the new app will not only encompass all the features of the website’s functions, but it will now provide easy access and booking for Shangri-La’s 72 hotels and resorts at one’s fingertips, anywhere in the world.

The free Shangri-La app available for download through the App Store in English or Simplified Chinese, allows guests to search and book real-time reservations at all Shangri-La hotel locations, view all special promotions and receive location-based offers at specific hotels with GPS technology, and manage their Golden Circle loyalty programme membership account efficiently. The app for iPad, Android and Blackberry devices are currently under development.

Travelport triples content

TRAVELPORT has revealed that the number of hotel properties available in its Travelport Rooms and More hotel booking engine has more than tripled since launching the tool last summer. With new content recently added from leading hotel aggregators Hotelzon and Tourico Holidays, over 700,000 supplier offers are now available on more than 340,000 unique hotel properties. Niklas Andreen, GVP Hospitality and Partner Marketing, Travelport, said: “The case for developing Travelport Rooms and More was a strong one as it complements our GDS hotel offering and benefits everyone in the supply chain. Importantly, it negates the need for leisure travel agents to search for hotel offers on multiple websites, instead allowing them to access and book commissionable accommodation offers through one quick and easy process.”

Hotelzon and Tourico Holidays join 14 other leading hotel content suppliers on the portal, including Booking.com, Agoda, Hotels.com and LateRooms.
