Saab... to offer time-saving new applications

TRAVELPORT is set for its participation in the 2012 edition of Arabian Travel Market (ATM), where it will showcase a cutting-edge portfolio of technology solutions to travel suppliers from across the Middle East. Throughout the week Travelport will be highlighting solution sets that correspond to the four pillars of its value proposition: Unrivalled Content, Empowered Selling Experience, Intelligent Search and Open Platforms.  Guided by these principles, a myriad of pioneering technologies, platforms and ideas will be featured, including seamless airline merchandising solutions, time-saving desktop add-ons, efficient search optimization tools and customised agency applications.

Among these innovations are Travelport’s Universal API (uAPI), a visionary solution that provides access to a world of content and functionality through a single API connection. The ground-breaking technology will soon be leveraged by developers, online consolidators and travel management companies in the Middle East to build travel related applications that can be deployed through the web, desktop or mobile.

Meanwhile, Smartpoint App – a framework that facilitates point and click navigation – is another key Travelport product that will be screening at the show. Widely seen as a pre-cursor to the future desktop, the graphical user interface (GUI) application is helping Travelport users speed up the reservation process, while significantly enhancing their entire experience and interaction with the GDS.

Having built successful relationships with third party developers in recent years, the company will also be ready at ATM to share some of the ideas and innovations emerging from its Travelport Developer Network. The industry-leading programme gives developers and start-ups access to Travelport’s product data, allowing them to create and share innovative new travel applications and services.

As part of Arabian Travel Market travel agents’ day running during the exhibition, Travelport will be participating in a technology-focussed panel session entitled ‘How to fully utilise the GDS’. Taking place May 3 at 11:30am, Travelport’s online portal Rooms and More will be profiled alongside other hospitality solutions and the merits of making hotel and car bookings through the GDS will be discussed and debated.

Rabih Saab, president and managing director, Middle East and Africa said, “The impressive offering we will be showcasing at the show not only keeps pace with the rapidly-changing landscape of the global travel industry, but takes into account the unique needs of travel suppliers in the Middle East.”
