EGYPT’S Jaz Hotels, Resorts & Cruises has undergone one of largest expansions to its portfolio in the past year with a total of 48 operating properties, in addition to eight properties due to open during 2010 and early 2011.
In Sharm El Sheikh the company opened the four-star Sol Y Mar Sharks Bay, located just 10 minutes from Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport and close to the beaches of the Red Sea as well as the five-star Iberotel Il Mercato located in the heart of the Il Mercato Promenade with its stylish restaurants, cafés and shopping outlets.
And for those seeking the prefect relaxed, luxurious five-star Egypt holiday, Iberotel Aquamarine Resort is located on the southern tip of Hurghada with its own private beach and an aqua park.
Jaz Hotels, Resorts & Cruises also manages a new five-star beachfront resort in the Nabq area of Sharm El Sheikh offering more than 600 rooms across the entire complex. The new properties have joined the group’s extensive portfolio under the brand of Sol Y Mar Riva World and are named Sol Y Mar Riva Beach, Sol Y Mar Riva Club and Sol Y Mar Riva Mar.

The company has also announced its first property on Egypt’s Mediterranean coastline just 50km west of the city of Alexandria on a beautiful beachfront location.
Following an extensive refurbishment, the property has opened as the Iberotel Borg El Arab. Accommodation consists of guest rooms in the main hotel building and separate family rooms in chalets around the pool and beach area.
Located in the heart of Dubai on the Sheikh Zayed Road, Iberotel Emirates Grand Hotel is an elegant four-star property with magnificent panoramic vistas from which guests can combine their visit with a few days at the Iberotel Concorde Hotel in the nearby emirate of Fujairah.
Additional Sharm El Sheikh openings in the coming months will include the four-star Sol Y Mar Naama Bay with a total of 197 rooms, Jaz Alcazar Sharm the latest venture in Nabq, less than ten-minutes from Sharm El- Sheikh International Airport offering almost 600 rooms, and finally Jaz Mirabel Blue which is part of the larger Mirabel Resort Complex, enjoying a unique location featuring outstanding natural beauty, impressive Mediterranean-style architecture and luxurious accommodation.
The Jaz Blumarine Resort in Hurghada is due to open in 2011 as is the Madinat Makadi Aqua Park which spreads over 50,000 sq m and consists of a total of 46 water slides.
In Mersa Matruh, the luxurious resorts Jaz Almaza Beach Resort, Jaz Crystal Resort and Jaz Oriental Resort are currently available and the Jaz Oriental Club is due to open its doors in 2011 with a total of 191 well-appointed and beautifully-furnished guest rooms.
In Taba, 2011 will see the opening of the much awaited Jaz Royal Taba, located on its own golden sandy beach just 12km from the Taba border and the Gulf of Aqaba and 37km from Taba International Airport.
The expansion plans continue on the waer. The company currently has a total of 19 five- and five-star-deluxe Nile cruise ships operating under Travcotels and 2011 will see the introduction of the Elite Dahabeya (pictured left) and Prestige Dahabeya sail boats, which will take passengers back in time to a gentler, more refined era.
