AFTER a long day of meetings, much of it spent in the traffic of Egypt’s bustling capital city, the Conrad Cairo is a welcome home away from home.
From the friendly security staff, the bell boys and the executive floor receptionist everything is aimed at stress reduction.
On arrival, I was escorted to the Executive Lounge which offers express check-in and -out facilities allowing guests to relax in comfort while all the formalities are processed. The receptionist also checks your preference of newspapers and offers an informative update on hotel facilities and F&B options.
Executive rooms are spacious with panoramic views of the River and executive floor guests enjoy access to the Executive Lounge with complimentary breakfast buffet, tea and coffee, soft drinks and light snacks throughout the day and Happy Hour which includes your favorite beverage and a selection of canapés.
Executive Floor guests are also entitled to complimentary pressing of two items of clothing however the room also comes with an iron which, when travelling for business, means you can quickly tidy up your work wear.
The hotel has three new restaurants – fine dining at the Oak Grill, Kamala, a Southeast Asian outlet and Stage One Lounge which sounded great, but, as a single female traveller, I would find it a little uncomfortable sitting in such a large restaurant alone.
The club lounge was my eventual choice but I would have liked it to stay open a little longer as on two evenings I didn’t arrive back until after 7pm and found not much choice was left.
The central location of the property was ideal for my needs which included meetings across the city and I would recommend the property for both business and leisure visitors.
