IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened InterContinental Taipei, strengthening its luxury hospitality portfolio in Taiwan and expanding its partnership with Farglory Group.

Located within the Taipei Dome complex in Xinyi District, the 347-room hotel offers access to the city’s business, cultural, dining and entertainment destinations.

The opening marks the partners’ second InterContinental collaboration, following InterContinental Kaohsiung, and complements the recently signed Hualien Farglory Hotel, Vignette Collection, further expanding IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle presence in Greater China.

The hotel features seven dining concepts, including restaurants led by internationally renowned chef Akira Back, alongside flexible event spaces, an indoor swimming pool and a fitness centre.

Classic rooms start at approximately 38 square metres, with selected rooms offering views of Taipei 101.

Residential-style suites, starting at around 76 square metres, include full kitchens, dining areas and in-suite laundry facilities.

Designed around the concept “In Taipei, For Taipei,” the property incorporates elements of the city’s architecture, culture and heritage throughout its interiors and event spaces.

The opening coincides with InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ 80th anniversary.

Robbert Manussen, Area General Manager, Luxury & Lifestyle, Taiwan market, IHG, and General Manager of InterContinental Taipei, said: “Taipei is a city of extraordinary energy and modernity, but also one defined by a distinctive sense of warmth and an exceptionally rich way of life. Our ambition is for InterContinental Taipei to be more than a hotel in Taipei; it should feel like a hotel that belongs to Taipei. We want the hotel to become a gateway into the city: a place where international travelers can experience Taipei more deeply, and where local guests can discover new ways to enjoy the city they call home.”

The opening adds to IHG’s existing InterContinental properties in Kaohsiung, Taichung and New Taipei, where its first hot spring resort in Taiwan opened in 2025.

IHG said it remains confident in Taiwan’s long-term hospitality potential, citing its cultural heritage, diverse tourism offering and appeal to international travellers.

The company plans to continue expanding through partnerships that combine its global brands with locally tailored guest experiences. -TTN
