ILTM welcomes Remota

FIRST-TIMER at ILTM, Remota, Chile, is, as the name suggests, one of the most remote experiential properties in South America, specifically, Chilean Patagonia.

Remota is accessible via a three-and-a-half-hour flight from Chile’s capital Santiago to Punta Arenas and then a two-hour scenic drive to Puerto Natales, the geographical and cultural centre of Chilean Patagonia.

Open all year round, this quirky property has 72 rooms and is ideal for those looking for a dose of modern luxury with their adventure in this largely unspoiled hikers’, birders’, photographers’, mountain bikers’ and fly-fishermen’s paradise. Remota offers a range of more than 40 excursions to experience the five icons around this area of Patagonia: untouched evergreen fjords, the biggest southern ice block, vast flatlands that locals name pampas, the rugged cordillera, plenty of fossils, caves, spectacular geology and Chile’s iconic Torres del Paine National Park. This is also combined with the opportunity to visit locals and experience the life and culture of Patagonia. Family programmes are also available.

Designed by eco-architect Germán del Sol, the award-winning hacienda style of the hotel with roaring open fires makes a welcome return from the outdoors, yet floor to ceiling glass means its light and airy interior design makes the most of glorious views across the Patagonian landscape.

All bedrooms look out to Ultima Esperanza bay, the Balmaceda glacier and the Paine Mountain Range. There are two meeting rooms of 1,900 and 1,470 sq ft as well as a restaurant and bar. An additional complex holds an indoor heated pool, Finnish sauna and open-air Jacuzzi as well as massages available for ultimate peace and relaxation. Remota is fully committed to sustainability.
