Spectators can now get in on the action with the start of ticket sales for 158 sport competition sessions at 16 competition venues to the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG). Around 320,000 tickets for the competition are available.

Singapore will host the games from August 14 to 26, 2010. To encourage everyone to be a part of this milestone sporting event, the tickets are priced affordably at Dh26 ($7) (preliminaries), Dh39 (quarter finals/ semi finals) and Dh78 (finals).  For the first time, each ticket purchased is accompanied by a Singapore 2010 DBS Visa prepaid companion card which combines payment and transit functions.

In furthering the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect through the promotion of cross-cultural interaction among participating youth at the games, new and exciting competition groupings and formats such as mixed gender and mixed National Olympic Committee teams will be introduced, while some sports will be played in completely new formats to raise the level of excitement for both athlete and spectator.

“We invite people in Singapore and the world to join us in cheering these young Olympians from the 205 delegations. With new competition formats unique to YOG, affordably-priced tickets and complimentary public transportation, we hope to offer a new level of experience at the inaugural YOG,” said Goh Kee Nguan, chief executive officer, Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee.
