Shangri-La Hotel, Abu Dhabi showcased the Qaryat Al Beri’s premium Mice facilities at the recently concluded Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings exhibition (GIBTM) 2010. Joining Shangri-La this year was the new addition to the Qaryat Al Beri complex, Traders Hotel. The sister property of Shangri-La Hotel is a four-star business brand and was exhibiting for the first time, since opening in August 2009.
General manager Adrian Rudin told TTN: “2009 was a good year for Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi with occupancy averaging 80 per cent throughout the year.
“Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi opened in August 2009 and is seeing a steady increase in occupancy as brand awareness grows.”
While the Shangri-La has seen a good mix of both corporate and leisure travellers, as well as Mice visitors, the Traders Hotel is the group’s business brand and is specifically targeting the corporate market and the individual business traveller.
“We work with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and key DMCs and travel agencies in target markets to ensure that our hotel is visible across several key markets including the UK, Germany, Spain, France, Russia, the Middle East and Asia,” said Rudin. “Interestingly, current leisure bookings have seen a slight increase compared to the first quarter of last year,” he added.
With their location within the Qaryat Al Beri complex, guests at both properties have a wider choice of accommodation.
Both Shangri-La Hotel and Traders Hotel also offer complimentary broadband internet access to guests who can enjoy the flexibility of creating their own tailored stay by adding additional options to each booking such as one-way shuttle service to or from the Abu Dhabi International Airport, complimentary usage of a meeting boardroom in the business centre or up to Dh150 ($40) on food and beverage credit per day, with the Custom Stay offer.
Looking ahead, Rudin plans to promote the Qaryat Al Beri complex as a unique destination within a destination in the capital and to increase the brand awareness of Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi in the GCC market.
The Qaryat Al Beri complex also houses Shangri-La Residences, CHI the Spa at Shangri-La, the Villas by Shangri-La and The Souk at Qaryat Al Beri.
The wide choice of function space at Shangri-La Hotel includes the 300-sq-m Nojoom Ballroom, six meeting rooms ranging from 30-125 sq m and extensive outdoor venue space.
The diversity of the complex allows guests to select a desirable location either by the infinity pool overlooking the sea or in the more exclusive surroundings of a private villa.
