Danat Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement to operate the 257-room Sands Hotel in Abu Dhabi which is currently undergoing a major refurbishment due to finish at the end of 2010.
The company is a division of National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCT&H), the Abu Dhabi government-run developer, owner and manager of four and five-star properties including the InterContinental Hotel Abu Dhabi, InterContinental Al Ain Resort, Danat Jebel Dhanna Resort, Al Raha Beach Hotel, Dhafra Beach Hotel and the newly opened Tilal Liwa Hotel, all in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
In a further development the owner of Al Raha Beach Hotel has begun an extension programme of 147 rooms and will enhance the dining experience of guests by adding three new speciality restaurants as well as upgrading the property’s spa to a signature spa and improving the landscaping around the swimming pool and La Piscine restaurant.

NCT&H is also currently developing four major properties located in various prestigious or leisure locations in Abu Dhabi.
A spokesman said: “We are looking forward to signing more hotels under the Danat Hotels & Resorts brand and working on developing new brands under our umbrella.
“During ATM, we will meet travel agencies, DMCs and tour operators for the leisure business inbound to Abu Dhabi to discuss the rates and bookings, mainly from Europe. We will also look to meet new TPIs to broaden our online GDS channels.”
