Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts will be using Arabian Travel Market (ATM) as a platform to announce the launch of its new resort, Banyan Tree Al Wadi in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

Located in tranquil Wadi Khadeja, the protected enclave of the sturdy, evergreen ghaf tree, Banyan Tree Al Wadi is a 45-minute drive from Dubai International Airport and located 20 km from the vibrant Ras Al Khaimah city centre.

Banyan Tree Al Wadi is set to be the first luxury desert resort in the UAE to offer an all-pool villa concept, complete with 3,000 sq m of Asian-inspired hydrotherapy spa facilities, and a private beach club, as well as being located within a dedicated nature reserve.

Announcing the opening, assistant vice president, global marketing network, Audrey Chung said: “Since it is not the first time Banyan Tree has attended ATM, this is a key indication of the continuous growing importance of this region for the Banyan Tree brand, its commitment to the region, as well as the global expansion and innovation of Banyan Tree.”

She added that the exhibition offers an excellent opportunity to interact directly with customers travelling to and from the Middle East and, aside from the brand’s new developments specifically relevant to the regional market, visitors to ATM will have the opportunity to experience Banyan Tree for themselves and learn how they too can benefit from the company.

Chung said: “The Middle East continues to be an important market for Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts where the following resorts are expected to open over the next two years: Angsana Eastern Mangrove, Abu Dhabi in 2011 and Banyan Tree and Angsana Sifah in Oman, as well as Angsana Alegria and Angsana 40 West in Cairo in 2012.

“Banyan Tree is also continuing to make inroads into the market through the appointment of a GSA and a PR agency for the region starting in 2010, this is also in line with its goal to establish the Banyan Tree brand in the Middle East as we believe that there is much untapped potential for business from the GCC to our properties in Thailand and the Maldives.

“The Middle East presents an important growth area for Banyan Tree and the ATM announcement will reflect this.

“Aside from Western Europe, we are targeting markets such as the, GCC and even Asia as the Banyan Tree brand has a strong following within that region. We are definitely expecting high traffic from the Middle East region due to the increasing popularity of short-haul travel and the trend of short weekend getaways favoured by travellers from the UAE and GCC. Indonesia and the Seychelles are destinations that we anticipate to be of particular interest to the outbound GCC market.”
