The brand Incredible India has been firmly established in everyone’s mind, India has always been an interesting destination with fascinating diversity but now it is on the top of the list for tour operators and others in the industry.

The total travel market in India is expected to reach $26.1 billion by 2010 and tourist arrivals from the UAE and neighbouring Gulf countries will contribute significantly to the growth.

The Incredible India campaign has been seen to be highly successful overseas and instrumental in increasing the number of tourists to India which, for quite some time, has been a sleeping giant in the field of tourism but has now awakened and is taking up a new direction.

Rapid improvements in accessibility and infrastructure, well-trained human resources, falling prices and an aggressive multi-pronged marketing campaign have given a huge boost to the tourism sector and have helped make the multi-faceted sub-continent into one of the most sought-after holiday destinations in the world.

The ‘Visit India 2009’ scheme ran from April to December as a confidence-building exercise, in light of the worldwide recession, with the Indian government announcing various incentives for tourists as well the tourism and hospitality industry which helped make this too a roaring success.

Now the Ministry of Tourism is looking forward to further strengthening the spirit of Indo-Arab partnership for trade development and cultural exchanges between the two regions.

India is promoting the hi-tech healing of its private healthcare sector as a tourist attraction. As a leading healthcare services hub in the region, more and more Arab patients are flying to India each year for low-cost but world-class medical treatment.

Most estimates claim treatment costs in India start at around a tenth of the price of comparable treatment in America or Britain. The country has established world-class expertise in practices such as cardiac care, cosmetic surgery, joint replacements and dentistry. Another major attraction is yoga and naturopathy that is fast gaining popularity across the globe.

The 2010 Commonwealth Games are the 19th edition of the event and are scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India, from October 3 to 14 October. In preparation for the huge influx of tourists visiting Delhi during the games steps have been taken to improve the city including transportation development and the upgrading of many old structures.

Elsewhere in the country it is possible to explore nature, wildlife and landscapes which are unique to the subcontinent, collect handicrafts, jewellery and fabrics not found anywhere else, discover unimagined heritage, monuments and sculptures or simply rejuvenate your body, mind and soul.
