Airport show in Dubai reports 7 pc rise in exhibitors

Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and chairman of Dubai Airports, inaugurated the 10th edition of the Airport Show which was expecting record numbers of visitors and hosted buyers.

The three-day exhibition was due to showcase the latest technologies and advances in the airport industry from around the world and host industry professionals to share their expertise and insights on enhancing the operational efficiencies of airports under construction or renovation.

Ara Fernezian, group exhibition director at Reed Exhibitions Middle East, the organiser of the event, said that the robust participation of key industry players at the Airport Show 2010 reflects the growing international interest in the industry. 

He said the exhibition witnessed a seven per cent increase in the number of exhibitors, which reached 223 compared to 210 in 2009. In all, 34 countries participated in the event, occupying a gross exhibition space of 10,508 sq m.

He added: “The number of high-profile airport officials attending the event has grown 41 per cent over last year while the number of hosted buyers has gone up by 42 per cent.

This reiterates the importance of the event as an unmatched strong growth platform showcasing the latest technologies and solutions of global appeal. The exhibition also reaffirms Dubai’s position as a key transport and logistics hub that drives the growth of the airport sector.”

France, Germany, the UK, Italy, Denmark, Switzerland and China had their own national pavilions at the exhibition.
