Rixos appoints new CEO
Rixos Hotels has announced the appointment of Kees Hartzuiker as the group’s chief executive officer. Prior to joining Rixos he was vice president operations, Asia for Hilton Worldwide. Hartzuiker has also held several senior positions in Europe, the Middle East and Asia with Hilton Worldwide.

New staff at Golden Tulip Al Jazira
Yousef Deeb (pictured) has been appointed as business development director of the Golden Tulip Al Jazira Hotel & Resort, Abu Dhabi. Prior to this, he was director of sales at Holiday Inn in Dubai and Sharjah. Viviane Khoury, who started her career with Samaya Hotel Dubai, has been appointed sales manager for the property.

Appointments at Park Hyatt
Park Hyatt Dubai has announced the appointments of director of sales and marketing Waike Papke (pictured), spa manager, Amara, Simone Lange and chef de cuisine, Café Arabesque, Ali Al Haj Hasan.
Papke was previously at the Banyan Tree Al Areen in Bahrain for two years.

Raffles Dubai has announced the appointment of Sue Wheatley as director of sales and marketing. Wheatley has more than 12 years of hospitality experience including as director of commercial development, global sales for the Jumeirah Group and director of business development and marketing for Burj Al Arab.

Ahmed Issa has been appointed as director of food and beverage for Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi. He is also responsible for Traders Hotel, Shangri-La Residences and The Villas by Shangri-La. He was previously a member of the pre-opening team for Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Kern for Kempinski Hotel Ajman
Bernhard Kern has been appointed director of food and beverage at the Kempinski Hotel Ajman. He rejoins the Kempinski after a brief stint in an identical position at Millennium Hotel in Chengdu, China. He has worked in several Kempinski properties in China, including Chengdu and Sanya Bay.

The Al Bustan Rotana Dubai has welcomed George Khozam as director of front office. Prior to Al Bustan Rotana, he has worked for various five-star properties in the UAE including Le Meridien Abu Dhabi, Al Diar Hotels and Sheraton Abu Dhabi. He brings with him almost 20 years of experience in front office operations.

Safi Airways appoints new executives
Safi Airways has appointed Captain Werner Borchert (pictured), as executive vice chairman. He was formerly COO of the airline based in Kabul.
Borchert played a pivotal role in the launch of Etihad Airways and Jet Airways. The Afgani airline has also appointed Thomas Bommer as director of sales and marketing.

Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain has announced the appointment of Alaa Al Fardan as sales manager. Al Fardan, who attended a tourism management course at the University of Bahrain, was previously a sales representative of InterContinental Regency Hotel, Bahrain.

Mandrea began his career in the food and beverage department in 1970.
