Francisco Giles has taken over as the new general manager of the five-star Renaissance Dubai Hotel.

Giles joins the Renaissance from the Ramada Hotel Bur Dubai, where he was the general manager for five years. During this period, a complete renovation of the property took place with just the public area remaining.

Prior to Ramada, he worked for five years with the Radisson and Hyatt International groups in Australia, opening four new hotels in senior food and beverage positions. He has also worked in Cancun, Mexico as well as in the UK with the Ritz Hotel and Grosvenor House Hotel, then the flagship of Trust House Forte.

Studying in Switzerland and Cornell University was the foundation of his career.

Working with colleagues and associates in Switzerland, UK, Australia, Mexico, South Pacific and Dubai, he had an opportunity to develop the number one priority in hospitality: People skills.

"I realised that it is not about what you do or say, but how you do it and how you say it. This especially applies to Dubai, in dealing with the 21 different nationalities we have in the hotel. I strongly believe that communication and mutual respect is the key," said Giles. He is a member of the Global Hoteliers' Club Worldwide meeting the qualification of having worked in a minimum of three continents.
