Gulf Hotel Bahrain’s assistant director of sales was recognised for her devotion and work in the industry with an award from the island’s ruler His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Fawziya Abdulla Zubari received the award as part of the country’s national day celebrations and said: “It was a huge honour to receive this prestigious award from His Majesty the King.
“It was without doubt one of the best achievements of my career and, needless to say, one of the most memorable days of my life.”
Hotel general manager Clive Webster added: “It was a proud moment for all of us here at the Gulf Hotel as the award clearly acknowledges Fawziya’s contribution to the hospitality industry and her devotion to her profession.”
Zubari began her career at the Gulf Hotel in 1986 as a banqueting sales executive and over the years gained a wealth of commercial experience and expertise from intensive training and development courses offered. She was promoted to assistant director of sales in 2007 illustrating the hotel’s strategy of developing Bahraini professionals.
This combined with her passion for her profession helped her climb steadily through the ranks and she is now one of the few Bahraini women holding senior managerial positions in the five-star hospitality sector.
