Qatar National Hotels Company (QNH) is one of the leading hotel owners and developers in Qatar with a portfolio comprising unique branded properties managed by prestigious international hotel operators.
Now, with industry experience dating back to the pioneering days of hospitality in Qatar, QNH has embarked on its next venture – as a hotel operator.
“Merweb is the Qatar-born and grown brand – a new hospitality concept for the Middle East. The Merweb concept is intimately related to the history of the country,” said Tamara Khalil, group director of marketing at QNH.
“The ancient Merweb fort that once provided shelter for traders and seafarers has now developed into the modern hotel concept that caters to modern business travellers – a metamorphosis of Arabic hospitality heritage enhanced through technological innovation.”
The Merweb brand will operate on a dual tier through Merwebhotels and Merweb Grand.
Merwebhotel Central Doha has recently opened its doors while Merweb Grand City Centre is scheduled for mid 2010.
Marketed under the ‘discover life’ banner, the branded hotels focus on providing a stress-free living environment wherein guests can focus on business matters rather than daily essentials.
“Just like in ancient times,” said Khalil, “Merwebhotels are the oases that reveal to travellers a different dimension of life – the hassle-free, upbeat, cosmopolitan corporate life that can be enjoyed at full speed, since we are taking care of all mundane aspects.”
Merwebhotel Central Doha is a stylish four-star property, located on Ras Abu Aboud Street within major city access routes and on the main road to the New Doha International Airport.
The property features 218 guest rooms including executive rooms and a penthouse suite. Physically challenged rooms, smoking rooms and interconnected rooms are also available.
IDD telephone with voice mail, dedicated high-tech workstation, free Internet and connectivity solutions for IT equipment are just a few of the elements designed to satisfy the needs of business travellers.
The food and beverage outlets at Merwebhotel Central Doha have been designed to reflect the brand; informal enough to make guests feel comfortable and at ease, the stylish dining venues are ideal for business gatherings or for socialising purposes offering a diverse culinary choice.
The Mezza9 Kitchen is the all-day dining restaurant, Qat’ra Deli showcases the delicatessen concept and, for those looking for evening entertainment, the M-Lounge is the new social destination in Doha with a tasty finger-food menu and a great selection of beverages served in a cosmopolitan ambience.
There are also meeting rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a well-equipped health club.
“Merwebhotel Central Doha is a prototype of the Merwebhotel brand and it is a product tailor-made for its market,” said general manager Mario Borg D’Anastasi. “With a unique ‘can do, will do’ attitude, we are confident to exceed the expectations of any guest who wishes to experience a ‘stressfree living’ environment.”
And Merweb has set its sights on expansion across the region with the first two hotels planned to be the forerunners of a GCC-wide development plan in the coming months and years.
