Bahrain – Washington service launched

United Airlines has announced that it has started to sell tickets in Bahrain for its flight from Bahrain to Washington DC via Kuwait City. 

United plans to begin its Bahrain service from Bahrain International Airport to Washington Dulles on April 18, 2010.  United’s new route will be the only same-plane service operated between the Kingdom of Bahrain and North America, complementing existing services in the Middle East from Dubai and Kuwait City to Washington DC.

The airline’s current non-stop service from Washington DC to Kuwait will continue to Bahrain, with the return flight also stopping in Kuwait before continuing to Washington DC.

Flights will be operated by Boeing 777 aircraft, offering United first, business, economy plus and economy classes leaving Bahrain and Washington seven days a week.

 

Flydubai heads to Bahrain

Dubai’s first low cost airline, flydubai, has continued to expand its route network with the announcement of its second GCC destination and tenth point on its network, Bahrain.

The airline’s double-daily flights to Bahrain will leave Dubai International Airport at 7.15am and 8.05pm and return from Bahrain at 8.15am and 9.05pm. Flight prices start from Dh250 ($68) one way.

 

Three-class service from Oman Air

Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has launched a new three-class service on its flagship Muscat - London Heathrow route.

The service is offered aboard new A330-300 aircraft and features first-class, business-class and economy-class cabins.

The flights operate daily between Muscat and London with lie-flat seats, direct aisle access and a la carte dining for every passenger in first and business class and comfortable, spacious economy seats.

With just six seats in the first-class cabin, together with a luxurious lounge area, the passenger experience is akin to flying in an exclusive private jet.

 

Multi-lingual website

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has launched the all-new gulfair.com with a fresh modern layout and horizontal navigation making it easier to access content and providing more space on the homepage for information on the latest news and offers.

For the first time the airline has also launched Arabic language, French and German versions.

The site, which took 12 months to develop, is being maintained by a  sophisticated content management system which improves reliability of the site and consistency across pages.

 

Best in skies

Passengers flying with Etihad now have one of the world’s most comprehensive in-flight entertainment systems with the launch of the new Panasonic eX2 system.

The new in-flight entertainment incorporates a range of up-to-the-minute features including:

• an iPod connector in every seat on the aircraft, for playing and recharging iPods, with an additional RCA connection in first and business class making it possible to connect other portable entertainment devices (MP3s, DVD players etc) to the IFE system;

• an easy-to-use interactive interface in Arabic and English and

• a specially designed ‘Just for Kids’ interface for children under 12, featuring a sub-set of all the entertainment options that would appeal to a younger audience.

The first of five new Airbus A330-300 aircraft to offer the system was scheduled for arrival in  December 2009.

It will also be fitted on Etihad’s new fleet of Boeing B777 aircraft scheduled for delivery from 2011.
