The 2009 Formula one Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix wrapped up with Red Bull’s Mark Webber fending off fast-finishing world champion Jenson Button to take a hard-fought second place in the first-ever Grand Prix at the Yas Marina circuit. The three days saw a flurry of F1 fans and celebrities around the circuit enjoying the action. After-race concerts on the Yas Island kicked off with R’n’B star Beyoncé. Other performers included the jazz funk legend Jamiroquai, American guitar band the Kings of Leon and the legendary American rockers Aerosmith. Another highlight was the star-studded Grand Prix Ball Abu Dhabi which donated more than Dh1.5 million ($411,000) to the event’s international charity partner fresh2o, as some of the biggest names from business, stage and screen turned out to support the inaugural showcase.
