Tourism organisation launches UAE chapter

MORE than 100 members have signed up for the Hospitality, Sales and Marketing Association International’s (HSMAI) newest branch which has just been established in the UAE.

Jeff Senior, executive vice president of sales and marketing Fairmont – Raffles and global chairman of HSMAI, attended the launch of the UAE Chapter and handed over the group’s official certification.

He also shared best practice and strategic tips for the success of the chapter and HSMAI’s mission in general.

Discussing the future, UAE board members said they would be focusing on increasing activities and membership which they hope to double by 2010.

Mona Faraj, chairwoman of the HSMAI UAE Chapter, said: “We are very excited and enthusiastic about this launch as the HSMAI offers the ideal platform for networking among hospitality and travel professionals as well as providing a range of affordable training and educational opportunities across all areas of sales and marketing. There is a great need for such an association in our region.”

HSMAI is a global organisation of sales and marketing professionals representing all segments of the hospitality industry. With a strong focus on education, it has become the industry champion in identifying and communicating trends in the hospitality industry while operating as a leading voice for both hospitality and sales and marketing management disciplines, as well as connecting its members with customers. Founded in 1927, HSMAI is an individual membership organisation comprised of nearly 7,000 members from 35 countries and chapters worldwide.
