THE opening of further golf courses and the Race to Dubai competition have strengthened the UAE’s position as a superb golf destination, according to David Milican senior general manager, SNTTA Travel & Tours and SNTTA Emir Tours.
“Now that prices for air travel and hotels have reduced, the region is able to compete with more traditional winter golf destinations such as Spain, Portugal and Turkey,” he said.
Emir Golf, specialist in providing golf packages for both the inbound and outbound, was launched in January this year. “Staff in both companies have been trained in the terminology and etiquette of golf, so that whenever a client gets in touch, they can understand what is required,” said Milican. Emir Golf has a range of packages, including Race to Dubai packages which were launched in March this year. “Interest is steadily increasing as we get nearer to the event,” he said.
Also, outbound packages offering both fixed and tailor-made itineraries are available to various golf destinations around the globe. “We also offer golf and spa packages, so that both golfer and non-golfer can enjoy a break together.”
Offers include a seven night eight day golf package in Bangkok and Pattaya at a starting price of Dh4,170 ($1,135) per person (for golfers) and Dh2,450 ($667) (non golfers). This includes four nights at the Dream Hotel and three nights accommodation at the Woodlands Resort.
Participants would take in golf in Bangkok at Lam Luk Ka Country Club, site of 2009 Asian Tour qualifying event, golf at Thai Country Club (site of Tiger Woods’ 1997 PGA win) and in Pattaya play includes a session at Siam Country Club, Plantation Course (site of 2009 Honda LPGA Classic).
