DUBAI based British explorer Adrian Hayes (centre), who along with Canadian adventurers Devon McDiarmid (right) and Derek Crowe are currently attempting to cross Greenland, from the Atlantic Ocean on the south coast to the Arctic Ocean on the north coast.
They started late in May on what will be the longest unassisted Arctic journey which may take 65 to 80 days depending on conditions. The adventurers will be using wind power to kite ski and haul 150 kg sleds for two months over a 3,500 km route that has never been done before.
They are trying to raise awareness of how countries worldwide – particularly the USA and UAE - need to address the use of the planet’s resources. The expedition’s official partner is the BioRegional Charity. Hayes is in the Guinness Book of Records as being the fastest man to reach the three poles in succession.
