New GM’s on board at Ritz-Carlton  
Two general managers have recently been appointed to Ritz-Carlton’s in the region.  Carsten Fritz (right) takes charge of the resort in the tip of the Sinai Peninsula. Fritz was previously at the Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. Andrew Nasskau has taken over the reins as GM of the Ritz-Carlton in Dubai.

Moukthar’s Al Barsha appointment    
Holiday Inn Dubai, Al Barsha has appointed Reda Moukthar as general manager. An Egyptian national, Moukthar has worked in The Middle East for Starwood in the hotel trade for many years. He brings to the Al Barsha property a strong background of finance and sales and marketing skills.

Bagwan joins Lotus Grand  
Wajeed Bagwan has been appointed hotel manager for the Lotus Grand Hotel Apartment & Spa, Dubai Marina. He is also commissioned for the opening of Lotus Downtown Metro Hotel Apartment & Spa in Deira. Bagwan moves from India where he was executive assistant manager with the Radisson Chennai.

New face at Steigenberger Al Dau  
Mohamed Fawzy has been appointed as regional director of sales & marketing at the Steigenberger Al Dau Resort on the Red Sea in Egypt. Fawzy was previously director of sales for DAMAC Egypt. He will oversee activities of the Steigenberger Al Dau Club and the Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Hotel among other duties.

HR manager at Al Murooj Rotana  
Al Murooj Rotana Dubai recently welcomed Maroun Nasser as the new human resources manager. Prior to joining Al Murooj Rotana, Nassar was HR manager in Rotana properties in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.  In his new role he will manage a team comprising employees of 35 different nationalities.

Le Moine appointed for apartments  
Brenda Julia Le Moine has been appointed as director of residences for the pre-opening of the Marriott Executive Apartments Doha City Center in Qatar. She was previously at the Taba Heights Marriott Beach Resort, JW Marriott Dubai Hotel and most recently was with the Miami South Beach Marriott Hotel, USA.

Issa Joins Traders, Qaryat Al Beri  
Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi has appointed Ahmed Issa as director of food and beverage. Issa joins the pre-opening team of Traders Hotel. Prior to this he was assistant director of F&B at Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi and was also once at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai.

New roles at InterCon Saudi Arabia  
The InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed Ahmad Mehio (right) as area director, sales and marketing for Saudi Arabia, Eastern Province covering properties including InterContinental Al Jubail, Al Khobar and Al Ahsa, Holiday Inn Al Khobar and Half Moon Bay. InterContinental Al Jubail moves Rohit Sawant to marketing manager.

Danat promotes Hassib  
Ahmed Hassib has been promoted to general manager of the Mirfa & Liwa Hotels managed by NCT&H. Prior to his new role Hassib was room’s division manager then executive assistant manager at the sister hotel Al Raha Beach Hotel. He brings with him experience from Croatia, Egypt and UAE. 

The Cove Rotana promotes Kamal   
Rotana Dubai & Northern Emirates announced the promotion of Hossam Kamal at the newly opened The Cove Rotana Resort, Ras Al Khaimah. Kamal joined the Rotana group in 2004 in Abu Dhabi. In 2006 he was part of the pre-opening team of Grand Rotana Resort & Spa, Sharm El Sheikh.

Executive chef joins Shangri-La
Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, has announced Gary Robinson as the new executive chef. He moves to Abu Dhabi from Hong Kong where he was at the Kowloon Shangri-La. Chef Robinson will also oversee operations at Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, in its pre-opening stage.

Riyadh’s new executive chef  
Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh has appointed Chef Ahmad Sleiman to it’s culinary team. Chef Sleiman, renowned for his international expertise, will oversee all restaurants including Seasons, Quattro, Tea Lounge, The Grill and banqueting. Sleiman who joined the company in 1991, comes from the Four Seasons Doha.

MD appointed at Seven Tides   
Seven Tides has announced the appointment of Mike Scully as managing director for its growing portfolio of five star properties. Scully will oversee the opening of four luxury developments in Dubai, including two on Palm Jumeirah. Scully joins Seven Tides after having recently formed UAE based First and Foremost Hotels and Resorts.

VisitBritain announces Dawe as CEO  
The national tourism agency VisitBritain has appointed Sandie Dawe as chief executive. Dawe joined from the London Tourist Board in 1991 and since then has held a variety of positions in VisitBritain in communications and marketing. Her early career included working for the Book Marketing Council and the BBC World Service.

Travelport strengthens its Africa team   
Travelport GDS has a new team for Africa. Mark Meehan (right) has relocated to Travelport’s Middle East and Africa headquarters in Dubai, Matthew Powell is now director of business development for Africa, and heading the southern Africa team is Gary Broomberg, supported by managers Samantha Williams and Don Smith.
