Abuharba promoted to GM  
Mohammad Abuharba has been promoted as general manager of the prestigious Dar Al Tawhid InterContinental in Makkah, KSA. Abuharba joined IHG in 2000 as director of human resources at the Al Salam Holiday Inn Jeddah. He joined Dar Al Tawhid as EAM in 2003 and has held the several positions at the hotel.

Rotana promotes Sakr 
Daniella Sakr has been promoted to human resources manager at the Gefinor Rotana Hotel. Sakr joined the group in March 2005. In 2007, she was transferred to Beach Rotana where she held the position of assistant human resources manager.  She was later transferred to Hazmieh Rotana before joining Gefinor Rotana.

New Chef at Towers Rotana  
Alan Snyman has been appointed executive chef at the Towers Rotana Dubai. Having worked as executive sous chef at Al Murooj Rotana Dubai for a year, Snyman is not new to Rotana Group. His previous assignments include the position of executive sous chef in Ireland, South Africa, Cape Town and Saudi Arabia.

Etihad appoints new executives  
Etihad Airways has appointed two new senior executives. Ray Gammell (right) joins the airline as chief people and performance officer and Jim Callaghan as general counsel and executive VP legal. Gammell joins Etihad from the Royal Bank of Scotland,  and Callaghan moves from Ryanair in Dublin.

Butch Harmon expands team 
The Butch Harmon School of Golf at Dubai Sports City has appointed Peter Holland as teaching professional. Holland has held senior positions in golf, including assistant professional at The Montgomerie Dubai, golf operations manager at Monte Rei in Portugal, and director of Golf at Barolo Golf Resort and Spa in Italy. 

Six Senses appoints Patel  
Six Senses has appointed Samir Patel as managing director of the Six Senses Spas division. Patel takes charge from his previous role with Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces, where he was VP of spa operations and development. His appointment follows the groups expansion through Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Americas.

New appointments at Rezidor  
The Rezidor Hotel Group has appointed Ersin Manaz as regional sales manager. Prior to his new role he held the position of group sales manager at Radisson SAS Dubai Deira Creek.  The Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City has appointed Denis Nobre (right) as financial controller of the hotel and Hassan Massood as executive chef.  

New roles at Kempinski MOE
Chef Idin Asmitha (right) takes charge as executive sous chef at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates. He joined the team at the hotel since its opening three years ago. The hotel has also appointed Nasser Fawzi as director of sales and marketing. Fawzi joined the company in 2001 with the Kempinski Hotel Ajman. 

New appointment at Amadeus ME 
Amadeus has announced the appointment of Shibu George as e-Commerce engineer for their newly opened regional hub in Dubai. George moves into his new role from the position of online sales engineer, a post he held at Amadeus since July 2006. Previously, he was the online solution developer at Salem Travel Agency.  

Fawzy at Steigenberger Al Dau Resort 
Mohamed Fawzy has been appointed as regional director of sales and marketing at the Steigenberger Al Dau Resort.  He has held positions at various properties including the Sheraton and the Accor group of hotels. He was most recently with the Accor Group as regional director of sales for Accor Egypt. 

Makhoul appointed at The Address  
The Address Hotels & Resorts have appointed Fernanda Makhoul as public relations manager of The Address, Dubai Mall. After working five years as public relations and marketing for the Hyatt International, she joins the pre-opening team of the company’s second hotel in Downtown Dubai.

Assoudi joins Jal Fujairah  
The JAL Fujairah Resort & Spa, has appointed Rachid Assoudi as executive assistant manager. Assoudi brings with him F&B  experience from both the Middle East and London, including most recent stints as director of F&B at both the Mövenpick Al Bida’a Hotel & Resort, Kuwait, and the Mövenpick Resort Al Nawras, Jeddah, KSA.

Emirates bolsters management team  
Emirates Airlines has promoted Mohammed Mattar (right), Nabil Sultan and Adnan Kazim to the position of divisional senior vice president (DSVP) level. Mattar takes charge as DSVP Airport Services, Sultan has been appointed DSVP Revenue Optimisation & Distribution and Kazim is the new DSVP for Planning and Research.

Capital Club Bahrain appoints GM  
The Capital Club Bahrain, part of Signature Clubs International, has announced the appointment of David Williamson as general manager. Prior to this his experience included working with Grand Metropolitan Hotels in the U.K. and Trust Houses Forte in various positions and as a restaurant franchisee.

Zubair appointed at Habitat, KSA  
Syed Asif Zubair has been appointed director of sales & marketing at the Habitat hotel, Saudi Arabia. He was previously with the Hyatt International based in Riyadh as sales manager overlooking all the global sales for Hyatt International. Zubair has also worked with other hotel chains like Marriott International.

Schulze moves to Doha
Sandra Schulze takes charge as director of public relations & marketing communications for the pre-opening of Marriott International’s three new properties in Qatar - the Renaissance Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott and Marriott Executive Apartments Doha City Centre. She brings with her over nine years of work experience in various 5-star hotels.

Chef Bernard joins Ritz-Carlton, Doha
Bernard Andre Nigond has been appointed executive sous chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha. Prior to his new role, he was with The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner Virginia as executive sous chef. He has worked with several hotels including the The Emporium in Stuart Florida, the Willoughby Country Club and The Ritz-Carlton, Virgin Islands.

Wataniya names chief commercial
Wataniya Airways has appointed David Evans as chief commercial officer. Before taking over his new role he was previously chief operating officer at Zambian Airways. It was here that he was appointed by the United Nations under the UNDP programme to establish the airline as a viable carrier.

MPI appoints Fasy
Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has appointed Meg Fasy as the VP of sales and marketplace performance. Fasy was previously VP venue development for nTAG Interactive, a provider of Event Data Management (EDM) solutions. She has also held positions with iBAHN, Inc., provider of broadband services for hoteliers.

CHI Hotels appoints seasoned hotelier
CHI Hotels & Resorts has appointed Asaad M. Farag as general manager of the Corinthia Hotel St Petersburg, Russia. Farag’s most recent appointment was that of general manager of the IHG Hotel in Time Square New York. Prior to that, he was the general manager of the Conrad Hotel & Conference Centre in Istanbul Turkey.
