THE first cruise ship to visit Kuwait in over two years arrived recently, with the help of Prime One Destination Management Company.
A total of 278 passengers were on board Silver Winds for the World Leader Symposium, which explored the Middle East in Kuwait, UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman.
Former US Secretary of State James Baker and his wife Susan, along with former US Secretary of Defence William Perry and his wife, former ambassador Dennis Ross, Donald Kendall, professor Larry Diamond and journalist Robin Wright were onboard this cruise liner.
Eddie Fernandes, director and co-owner of Prime One said that it had been the 6th cruise ship to call in Kuwait since 1995, and he was “looking forward for more to come.”
The passengers visited the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development Headquarters building, Kuwait Memorial Museum for Work & Arts, Tareq Rajab Museum of Art & Calligraphy, The Scientific Center, Fish Market & Dhow Harbor and the Kuwait Towers.
A conference reception was held at the Radisson SAS Hotel in the Al Hashemi Ballroom with guest speakers including US ambassador Deborah Jones, Dr Rola Dashti, Naif Al-Mutawa (creator of the 99 comic book series), and other Kuwaiti dignitaries.
“Prime One DMC shall try its level best for the coming years to bring more awareness to cruise liners to call in Kuwait as we have lots more to offer to those valuable passengers that would like to experience the heritage, culture and traditions,” said Fernandes.
