Bahrain is taking its latest campaign to woo tourists into cyber-space, with a joint promotion deal between two websites.
The government website www.bahraintourism.com is teaming up with the privately run www.visitbahrain.org under a twinning agreement signed at WTM 2008.
They will remain separate entities, but will work in tandem to promote Bahrain.
Information Ministry tourism marketing and promotion project head Mohammed Nass signed the agreement with visitbahrain.org director Rahul Arora.
“Bahrain aims to highlight its presence on the world tourism map,”‘ said Nass. “The Internet is the best media channel to reach people across the world.”
‘Co-operation will be centred on the opportunities that boost the use of technology and develop e-tourism via the two domains, with the objective of both business models benefiting from economies of scale and information sharing,’ said  Nass.
‘The portals will ensure that every business partner serving the tourism industry such as hotels, tour operators and other related trades also benefit from this initiative and will all become winners while providing much-needed information and services to guests visiting Bahrain.’
The portals, designed and launched to place Bahrain on the global tourism and economic map, will be promoted across the world with an emphasis on Europe, the US and across the Arabian Gulf.
The website www.bahraintourism will be responsible for marketing and developing the country’s tourist economy, said Nass.
