BA launches service with a sale
British Airways is adding a fourth daily service, operating five days a week, on its Dubai to London Heathrow route from January 2, 2009.  
The five additional weekly services – to be operated on a four class British Airways Boeing 777 - will increase the airline’s flights between the emirate and Terminal 5 at London Heathrow, to 26 per week. To celebrate the fourth flight, British Airways has reduced its Club World (business class) Dubai to London return fares to Dh6,550. The amazing offer, which is valid for travel on all Dubai –London services from December 10 to March 31st 2009, also extends to the airline’s European and North American routes.

Sama Airlines’ first Indian destination
Sama Airline based in Saudi Arabia has announced that Mumbai is its 11th international destination and first destination in India. There will be three flights a week between Dammam and Mumbai. Andrew Cowen, Sama chief executive officer said, “The addition of Mumbai as Sama’s first destination in India and the 11th international destination overall, is a part of our strategy to meet the huge demand for low fares travel between Saudi Arabia and India. The launch of Mumbai takes Sama’s international services to 80 per cent of our total flying establishing a pathway for Sama towards a profitable future. I am also proud to announce this new route at the same time as Sama reached the milestone of 1.5 million passengers flown on Sama.”

Celebrating seven aircraft
Kuwait and Dubai based airline Jazeera recently celebrated at Dubai International Airport after the delivery and inauguration of the airline’s seventh new aircraft. The arrival marked the first time a non UAE carrier took delivery of an aircraft in Dubai. The brand new Airbus A320 plane was flown directly from its manufacturing facility in Toulouse, France, in time for the airline’s third anniversary on October 30 and was welcomed into Dubai by Jazeera Airways’ Chairman and CEO Marwan Boodai, local officials and members of the local media. Boodai thanked the government of Dubai for their constant support and believed that the delivery also marked the expansion of its fleet size.

Winter season from SAS resumes
A three times weekly service linking the Dubai with Copenhagen, Denmark, started up again last month for its second season.  SAS Scandinavian Airlines’ service is an important link for Middle Eastern leisure and business travellers wanting to get to Scandinavia.

Etihad Airways adds Sydney flights
Etihad Airways has increased flight services between Abu Dhabi and Sydney.The increase is part of the airline’s ambitious growth plans for Australia with new services from Melbourne launching in March 2009 to add to its existing Sydney and Brisbane routes. Passengers heading to Australia from Etihad destinations in Europe and the Middle East can now choose from a morning or evening departure to Sydney, allowing a smooth transfer through Abu Dhabi airport.
