Amadeus charts out growth plans
Amadeus has appointed Ahmed Youssef as head of Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO) Project Implementation, responsible for implementing the AACO project in the ME. Youssef has had much experience in leading travel agencies in the Middle East.

Wood moves to Mِvenpick in El Gouna
Mِvenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna has appointed John Wood as general manager. Wood brings with him a wealth of experience having worked in various countries including Cyprus, the Caribbean, India , Russia  Croatia and Mauritius. He joined Mِvenpick Hotels & Resorts in 2007.

New direction for Tandon
The Mِvenpick Tower & Suites appointed Sanjeev Tandon as its new director of sales and marketing. Tandon moved to Doha from Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces, New Delhi. Prior to this he worked at the Taj Palace Hotel, Dubai, and was also at the Sheraton Oman Hotel, Muscat among others.

Langham Hotels appoints VP
Langham Hotels International appointed Bob van den Oord as vice president sales and marketing for the group. He has had senior hotel management roles in North America, Europe and Asia. Most recently, he led the repositioning of Eaton Hong Kong.

New regional VP for CHI Hotels & Resorts
CHI Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Salvinu Farrell as regional vice president for its operations in Africa and the Middle East. Based in Tunisia, Farrell has held numerous senior financial positions with CHI and the Corinthia Group for the last 20 years.

Lufthansa appoints Ernst
Tobias Ernst is to be Lufthansa’s  new manager, passenger sales for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.  Ernst has been with Lufthansa since 1985. He was in Bahrain and in 2005 he moved to Algeria. He moves from his previous position as general manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Derbas appointed at Le Meridien Amman
Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Tareq Derbas to general manager at Le Meridien Amman Hotel. Derbas brings with him more than 18 years of experience in luxury hotel chains including Sheraton Oman Hotel, Fours Seasons in Amman and Riyadh.

New role for Morsy
Waleed Morsy is now financial controller at the Mِvenpick Resort El Sokhna. He joined the group in 1998, where he held his first position in Mِvenpick Resort-Cairo Pyramids and later he had varying roles with the hotel group in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Two new moves from Best Western
Best Western International Asia appointed Suwaratana Tan (left) as international training manager for Best Western International Asia, based in the Bangkok corporate office.  In Singapore, Christy Guna Desa has been appointed as hotel operations manager of the Best Western Jayleen.

Promotion for Rmeity
The Safir Heliopolitan Hotel, Beirut recently promoted Inas Rmeity to reservations & revenue manager. She was previously reservations manager. Rmeity joined the hotel in 2003 as a hostess at the El Fornayo, Ristorante Italiano, and has worked in various positions.

Kempinski MOE strengthens team
Kempinksi Hotel Mall of the Emirates has appointed Shawn Vaz as e-commerce coordinator. Before being formally employed by the hotel, Vaz worked as part of a team that helped set up the IT systems for the hotel, while working as IT supervisor for Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.

New moves on the nile
Mِvenpick Nile Cruises Egypt announced the promotion of Ahmed Younis as deputy director of sales for the Mِvenpick Nile Cruisers Egypt .Younis joined the Mِvenpick Nile Cruises team as assistant sales manager, where he proved his commitment to the company.

Housekeeping executive in Doha
Axel de Boynes is now executive housekeeper at Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel. He has also worked in finance and front office. The hotel has also appointed Robby Kauditan as assistant director of F&B. He was most recently F&B manager at Sheraton Addis, Ethiopia.

New role for Lofty
Tarek Lotfy, regional revenue director, MENA region, has been assigned the management of the Tulip Inn Sharjah Hotel as operation manager in addition to his regional title. He has many years of experience with the Golden Tulip brand as well as with Le Meridian, Forte Grand and Partner Hotels.

An appointment at Riviera
Tony Gergess has been appointed deputy general manager at the Riviera Hotel in Beirut. He has more than 12 years of experience in international hotels in Lebanon, Switzerland and the Arab world. He holds a Masters in Business Administration degree, and is keen to rejuvenate the Riviera Hotel.

Promotion for Rosso
Massimo Rosso has been promoted to executive assistant manager in charge of business development at the Golden Tulip Bahrain Hotel. Italian born Massimo has been in the Gulf region since 2005 where he has held several positions in within the company.

Willats at top of the game
The Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel, Residence & Spa has appointed Alex Willats as executive assistant manager. He joins from Claridge’s Hotel in London where he was hotel manager. Prior to this he was at the Ritz London and resident manager at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester.

New board members at IFA
Talal Jassim Al-Bahar has been appointed as chairman and chief executive offficer of IFA, Saleh Saleh Al-Selmi as vice chairman and Ibrahim Saleh Al-Therban, Abdulwahab Ahmad Al-Nakib and Wafa Ahmed Al-Qatami as board members.

Henley heads at Amari Hotels & Resorts
Peter Henley has been appointed as the new president and CEO of Amari Hotels and Resorts. Henley has held positions in various companies including Holiday Inn Worldwide Asia Pacific, Raffles Holdings Limited, Panorama Hospitality and Morgan Stanley Properties.

Rajakarier becomes COO Minor group
Minor Hotel Group promoted Dillip Rajakarier to COO of the hospitality and leisure division. Rajakarier has served as VP of finance and chief finance and investment officer over the last two years. Prior to joining he was at Orient-Express Hotels, Trains and Cruises.
