Air Arabia takes off to Kiev
Air Arabia has launched non-stop service to Kiev, Ukraine, from the carrier’s main hub in Sharjah, reflecting its growing expansion into the Eastern European market.  The carrier now flies to Kiev three times a week. “Ukraine is one of the fastest growing economies in Eastern Europe, and there is considerable passenger traffic between the country and the Middle East, particularly for tourism and business,’ stated AK Nizar, head of commercial department, Air Arabia.
Kiev experienced record economic growth of more than 7.3 per cent last year alone. In eastern Europe, Air Arabia also serves Istanbul, Turkey, and Yerevan, Armenia.

Increasing capacity to Dubai
Cathay Pacific Airways last month started operating triple daily flights between Dubai and Hong Kong. Customers traveling to Hong Kong and beyond to China, Far East, USA, Canada  and Australia can  choose between late afternoon and midnight non-stop flights to Hong Kong; the third daily flight shall operate via Mumbai with a three class configuration. With high demand of business and leisure traffic between Dubai and Mumbai, Cathay Pacific Airways shall further strengthen the route by operating Boeing 747-400 offering first class suites, the newly designed flat-bed business class seats, and the enhanced economy class seats with audio/video-on-demand entertainment system.

Emirates to fly daily to Cyprus
Emirates Airline will begin daily flights to Cyprus from December 1, representing a further ramping up of its services in Europe. Emirates has flown to Cyprus since 1994 and currently offers a five times a week service from Dubai. As of December, its daily flights will make the Mediterranean island even more accessible to passengers from the UAE and beyond. ‘We are extending our commitment to the island and significantly improving connections to and from Dubai and beyond, opening up more possibilities for travellers, trade and Emirates SkyCargo freight throughout the broadening Emirates’ network,’ stated Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ senior vice president, Commercial Operations, Europe.

Book Swiss flights through cell phone
Swiss customers can now book their flights online from their mobile phone, through their new portal for the service, mobile.swiss.com portal. Any Swiss flight can be booked from anywhere in the world online from any mobile phone with internet capability via the new service. It was introduced due to the growing need for mobility among the carrier’s international clientele. The portal also enables customers to obtain useful travel information whenever they wish and wherever they may be.

Yemen’s low cost airline launched
Yemen’s first low cost airline, Felix Airways, began its operations last month to tap growing demand for domestic flights. The airline, which has a capital of $80 million and currently just one Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft, was set up by state run Yemen Airways and a unit of the Saudi based Islamic Development Bank which promotes private entrepreneurship, officials said. Chief executive officer Mohammed Al-Arrasha told reporters that the airline would operate flights between the capital Sanaa and the southern port city of Aden, and add more domestic services after acquiring more aircraft.
