United Airlines launched a non stop Dubai to Washington service on October 27. The new service takes passengers to Washington Dulles International Airport, one of United’s five US hubs.
From here customers can connect onto over 80 destinations across the USA, Canada and the Caribbean including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco.
United’s Washington hub offers over 200 daily flights to destinations across the US. It is also a key point for many United international flights serving the airport from destinations around the world.
“This new route further strengthens our presence in the Middle East and allows us to take advantage of the growing commerce between the region and the United States,” said Marcel Fuchs, United’s managing director Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
“Additionally, this flight adds to our international route network, creating new revenue opportunities and provides customers with a daily service they can rely on.”
“There is a growing demand for corporate business travel between the United States and the Middle East region,” Fuchs told TTN.
The daily flight from Dubai International Airport takes 15 hours 14 minutes west bound, and 12 hours 48 minutes going east bound in a Boeing777-200. Seating configuration will be 10 first class, 45 business class and 198 economy seats. United, the fourth largest airline in the world, is the only airline that also offers 84 seats in economy plus, which gives passengers five inches (13 cm) of extra space for the legs.
The route will be the airlines’ second to the Middle East region after Kuwait, which has seen a healthy passenger load since its non stop flights started in 2006.
DNATA, the Dubai reservations system owned by Emirates Group, has been appointed general sales agent.
