Following the successful operation of the Merweb Hotel Al Sadd, a second Merweb Hotel will be added to Qatar National Hotels Company portfolio.
The Merweb Grand City Centre in Doha will be located in the prestigious area of West Bay, 15 minutes from Doha International Airport. The hotel, due to open in the first quarter of 2008, will comprise of 256 rooms and suites, in addition to 97 fully furnished one, two, and three bedroom apartments.
With first-class service cuisines options at the Merweb Grand City Centre, the main dining restaurant will accommodate 150 persons, a themed restaurant for up to 102 persons and Crystal Lounge, rounded off by the T-Lounge in the lobby. An area is set aside for banquets and meetings as well as serviced offices with state-of-the-art equipment. Other facilities include an outdoor and indoor pool, children’s indoor and outdoor play areas, health club and fitness centre.
In addition, the Merweb Grand City Centre offers an office floor, a first in Doha. This floor consists of 13 offices which will be rented on daily, weekly and monthly basis. The floor is supported by its own reception and a fully equipped business centre.
The Qatar National Hotels also announced the signing of a letter of intent for a new Merweb Hotel in Doha’s Old Al Ghanem Area.
“Given that QNH has signed a management contract late 2006 for the Merweb Grand City Center and the success we have enjoyed with the existing Merweb Hotel Al Sadd, we’re delighted to be launching the third Merweb in Doha.” explains HE Sheikh Nawaf Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani, chairman of QNH. “We are in no doubt that the new Merweb brand and philosophy will delight the guests of this hotel as well.”
The new hotel is currently under construction and is designed mainly for business travelers who seek a high quality 4-star business hotel within short driving and walking distance of almost all retail shops and small business offices. The four-star hotel will offer 236 well equipped guest rooms and suites. The property also comprises of a spacious main restaurant, cocktail lounge and bar, two smaller sized dining rooms; guests will also be able to relax in the hotels leisure centre with its swimming pool, gym, Jacuzzi sauna, steam and massage room. A banquet hall with two function rooms will be available for banquets and conferences. This hotel will be complete by the first quarter of 2008.
Merweb, QNH’s new and successful hospitality concept for the Middle East will operate on a dual tier through Merweb Hotels and Merweb Grand. Acting as a focal point for business communities wherever it is located, each property will feature thoughtfully zoned spaces. The ground floor, will focus around a unique ‘business village’ lobby with a 24 hour deli, and a lounge and grill area. Each hotel will also house approximately 60 short-let and long term offices on two dedicated floors.
