Telfer joins Courtyard Dubai
Courtyard by Marriott has appointed Michelle Telfer as its new director of human resources.
Telfer started her career in 1989 with the Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries, Scotland and then moved to Millennium Hogmanay with Human Resources. In 2004, she joined the Marriott Edinburgh in the role of human resources manager.
Promotion for Torrens
Mandy Torrens has been promoted to the position of exhibition director, EIBTM. She joined EIBTM in 2000 as marketing executive and was promoted to marketing manager in 2002.
In 2005 she was appointed event manager for EIBTM. She went on to become an MPI member, serving on the Board of the MPI UK Chapter
Barnes at Diplomat Radisson Bahrain
The Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel, Residence and Spa has appointed Michael Barnes as director of sales and marketing. He moves from his previous position as director of sales at the Movenpick Royal Palm Hotel in Dar es Salaam and brings with him two decades of experience in Portugal, Spain, Australia, Bali and the US.
New appointments at Rosewood
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of Erik Huyer (left) as hotel manager of Hotel Al Khozama, A Rosewood Hotel in Riyadh.
Hans-Peter Leitzke has been named managing director of Rosewood Corniche in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Leitzke joined Rosewood in 2005 as hotel manager, Hotel Al Khozama.
Promotions at Four Seasons Dubai
General manager of Four Seasons Hotel Dubai Festival City, Bahram Sepahi, has been promoted to regional vice president. He now assumes res-ponsibility for Four Seasons properties in Amman, Damascus, Doha, Riyadh. He will also oversee the recently opened Four Seasons Golf Club and the Four Seasons Hotel in Dubai.
Sharon goes for space
Sharaf Travel has announced the appointment of Sharon Garrett as head of space marketing and public relations.
Prior to joining Virgin Galactic, she ran her own PR business, and was on the airwaves of Arabian Radio Network’s Dubai Eye 103.8FM as presenter of two talk-back radio shows, TravelEye and Essential Health.
New GM at Park Hyatt Dubai
The Global Hyatt Corporation has appointed Stuart Deeson as general manager of the Park Hyatt Dubai. With over 12 years experience with Global Hyatt Corporation, Deeson brings a wealth of experience from the Asian continent. Prior to his new role, he was general manger at the Hyatt Regency Johor Bahru in Malaysia.
Omran at Four Seasons Damascus
Naram Omran has been appointed as director of PR at the Four Seasons Hotel Damascus. Prior to her appointment, she worked in Damascus as the communcations manager for the INANA Group. She has also worked as communications manager for Syria’s GSM operator Syriatel, as well as at Fiat, as PR manager.
Coppetta at Sheraton Dubai Creek
Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers has appointed Monica Coppetta as assistant food and beverage manager.
Coppetta started her career with Starwood as a captain at the Vivendo Restaurant, in the St Regis Grand Hotel, Rome. Fuelled by her love for travel, she brings 17 years of experience to her new job.
Gulf Air appoints new VP
Ahmed Mohamed Abdulla Janahi has been appointed as VP for ground services at Gulf Air. He has been with the airline for 24 years, from airport duty officer to sales and marketing before moving to Bahrain as airport duty manager. He became the head of Bahrain hub in August 2006, a position which he held before being promoted.
