Two promoted to regional posts

Six Continents Hotels has promoted two general managers to regional positions in charge of its growing number of resort properties in Egypt.

Hurghada Inter-Continental Resort general manager Magdi Takla has been promoted as regional director of operations, Red Sea Resorts.

Robert Zogbi who recently moved from Bahrain as general manager of Sharm El Sheikh Inter-Continental Resort takes over as director of operations for Sinai Resorts.

Zogbi was the general manager of the Regency Inter-Continental Bahrain.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce degree, Takla worked in the hotel industry in Egypt where he held a variety of operations and rooms division positions.

He later worked for Westin and Movenpick, before joining the Hurghada Inter-Continental Resort in 1997 as resident manager.

Zogbi studied hotel and restaurant management in the US, and held a number of F&B positions before joining the Borobudur Inter-Continental Hotel Jakarta as F&B director in 1990.

Since then, he has been resident manager of the Hotel Inter-Continental Abu Dhabi, and general manager of both the Hurghada Inter-Continental Resort and the Regency Inter-Continental Bahrain.

Meanwhile, the group also announced moves for general managers at four hotels in the UAE and Oman.

Anthony Liddiard transfers to the Crowne Plaza Dubai from the Hotel Inter-Continental Muscat.

Liddiard joined Six Continents Hotels with the Regency Inter-Continental Bahrain in 1984, following a spell in South Africa.

He held positions in F&B and sales before being appointed regional director of sales and marketing for Oman, and thereafter vice president, sales and marketing for Inter-Continental Hotels, Middle East and Africa, based in Cairo.

He returned to operations as general manager of the Inter-Continental Hotel Muscat in 1997.

Guy Chidiac transfers to the Holiday Inn Resort Sharjah, moving from his present position as general manager of the Crowne Plaza Dubai.

Chidiac began his career in the US, and subsequently worked for a number of years in catering, project management, and general management in Europe, the Middle East and the Caribbean, including two Holiday Inn assignments.

He rejoined Six Continents Hotels in 1991 as general manager of the Crowne Plaza Kuwait, moving to his present position Dubai in 1993.

Jihad Hazzan moves to the Hotel Inter-Continental Muscat, transferring from his position as general manager of the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi.

Hazzan joined the Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi as a trainee after obtaining a degree in hospitality management in Florida.

He then held positions in sales and operations at the Holiday Inn Muscat, before his appointment there as general manager in 1989, transferring as general manager back to the Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi, and subsequently to the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi.

Nagib Bensouda transfers to the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi, moving from his current position as general manager of the Holiday Inn Resort Sharjah.

Bensouda started his hotel career in the US, after obtaining degrees in Wisconsin and Arizona. He then held a variety of sales and marketing positions in the Middle East, before moving into general management positions in Asia, Africa, and Morocco.

Bensouda rejoined Six Continents Hotels in 1998 as general manager of the Holiday Inn Salalah, and moved to his current position early last year.
