Intrinsically linked to our 2025 theme, ‘Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity’, the aviation industry has rebounded at pace in recent years, with revenues expected to surpass $1 trillion globally in 2025, and as a result, the sector will form an integral part of our conference offering by delving into topics such as sustainable aviation, innovative technologies, and the resurgence of business travel.

The rise of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) has been a game-changer for reducing carbon footprints. According to IATA, SAF production doubled to one million tonnes in 2024 and is expected to double again in 2025. Regional players like Emirates and Etihad lead the charge, by significantly reducing CO2 emissions on key routes, and we anticipate this will once again be a hot topic of discussion

Cutting-edge technology, including AI, continues to have a profound impact across the tourism industry, particularly in the aviation industry, where it is revolutionising operations and enhancing efficiency and the customer experience. From predictive maintenance to AI-assisted air traffic systems at London Heathrow and innovative baggage management by Japan Airlines, these advancements set a new standard for the sector. At ATM, we’ll explore how such technologies can unlock operational efficiencies and future-proof aviation.

Corporate travel is an area that continues to return to its former levels faster than expected after facing significant disruptions during the pandemic as business leaders rediscover the value of face-to-face interactions. At ATM 2025, our new feature, IBTM@ATM, will spotlight the growing corporate travel segment. With business travel spending forecasted to exceed $1.5 trillion globally, this renewed momentum offers immense opportunities for innovation and collaboration and will form an integral part of our conference agenda.

One of the lighter trends we’ll explore is the rise of the ‘gate escape.’ Airports are no longer just transit points; they are evolving into luxury, entertainment and relaxation hubs. For the Gen Z and Millennial markets, experiences such as spas, sleep pods and Michelin-star dining increasingly influence their travel decisions. ATM 2025 will showcase how airports worldwide are redefining passenger experiences and fostering a new dimension of travel appeal.

The growth of the travel and tourism sector and every industry vertical contributing to it, particularly in the Middle East, underscores the importance of platforms like ATM. Dubai’s proactive initiatives and vibrant tourism ecosystem have solidified its position as a premier global destination. This year’s event promises to attract even more exhibitors and attendees, underscoring our collective potential to redefine the future of travel. As we prepare to open the doors to ATM 2025, I invite you to join us in shaping the next chapter of global connectivity.
