Five spanking new winter staycations to try

From all-inclusive luxury and Tomorrowland’s first foray into hospitality to Kuwaiti opulence and Mughal magnificence, here are a list of recently opened and soon-to-open winter staycation ideas.

 

RIXOS MARINA ABU DHABI

Rixos is a pioneer in the ultra-all-inclusive concept, with a vibrant, luxury ambience and family friendly adventures. The very recently opened Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi combines regal splendour with 21st-century aesthetics, creating a mesmerising oceanic setting with opulent views.

Rixos Abu Dhabi Marina will share facilities with sister Accor property Fairmont Marina Residences to offer guests unobstructed views of the sea and the Abu Dhabi skyline. The resort will also boast an expansive of food and beverage offering with restaurants, lounges, bars and food trucks as well as an array of leisure and recreation facilities. A spray action pool and a kid’s pool will be featured within the property.

TERRA SOLIS

Tomorrowland, one of the world’s most iconic music festivals brands, is set to open an adults-only desert destination in Dubai this year. Terra Solis, the glamping-lifestyle destination, will feature three accommodation options, a swimming pool at the heart of the destination, some of the most iconic Tomorrowland elements, a restaurant, a bar and a shisha lounge.

Spread over 371,000 square metres in Dubailand, Terra Solis will combine outstanding music and entertainment, a fun party atmosphere and an exceptional food and beverage offering. It is home to several impressive glamping options, including 48 spacious, luxurious and beautifully decorated Polaris bell tents and 20 Perseid lodges, combining the ultimate comfort and style. There are also six Orion pool lodges, each featuring a private pool and a large private outdoor cabana and terrace.

 

VOCO DUBAI THE PALM

Set to open by year-end, VOCO Dubai The Palm is IHG Hotels & Resorts’ first property on the iconic lifestyle destination of Palm Jumeirah.

The boutique-styled premium hotel on the pet-friendly Palm West Beach, features 143 spacious guestrooms and suites that combine comfort and functionality. Each guestroom is equipped with modern amenities and intuitively designed work areas with cosy bedding made from 100 per cent recycled materials.

voco Dubai The Palm leisure facilities includes private beach access with a beach club, and a tranquil, ladies only spa, perfect for guests looking to recharge during their stay, among other recreational facilities at the hotel.

 

WALDORF ASTORIA KUWAIT

The recently opened Waldorf Astoria Kuwait provides the perfect staycation with its direct connection to The Avenues, the country’s largest retail, entertainment, and luxury lifestyle destination. The property’s prime location offers guests convenient access to beloved local attractions such as the Kuwait Opera House, Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Centre and the Grand Mosque.

Waldorf Astoria Kuwait features 200 magnificently adorned contemporary deluxe rooms and suites with panoramic views of the vibrant city skyline. Guests will enjoy a transformative journey of the senses, from exquisite dining venues and beautiful event spaces to the awe-inspiring Waldorf Astoria Spa.

THE CHEDI KATARA

The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort, Doha, Qatar will open right in time for the Fifa World Cup matches next month with 59 elegantly appointed rooms and suites as well as 32 villas complemented by world-class culinary concepts along the beachfront of the Katara Cultural Village.

Sandwiched between desert and sea across a 66,000 sq m plot, the design of The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort is heavily inspired by Mughal architecture and features elements of Ottoman heritage. Apart from 91 keys, expect five epicurean venues: The Restaurant, The Lobby Lounge, The Cigar Lounge, The Beach Club and Marsa Katara.

The orientation of the hotel offers all guestrooms, lounge and restaurant areas privileged views of the main pool and private beach.
