Qatar Airways (QA) has added Rome to its destinations across Europe, the Middle East, the Indian sub-continent, the Far East and North Africa.

An official delegation, led by Qatar Airways' regional manager for Qatar and Africa Fathi Shehab, was met at Rome's Fiumicino airport by Qatar's Ambassador to Italy, representatives of Aeroporti di Roma and the media.

The inaugural flight was seen off from Doha by the Italian Ambassador to Qatar Iannuzzi and Qatar Airways general manager Commercial Mohamed Saleh Fakhri.

"I have the pleasure to announce that Qatar Airways will be flying to Rome four times a week," said Qatar Airways' CEO, Akbar Al Baker.

"Qatar Airways will operate two non-stop flights a week to both Rome and Milan, and service both cities four times a week," said Shehab.
