Sharjah Airport led a contingent to participate in TUR-2003, in Gothenburg, Sweden.
This is the first time Sharjah Airport is making in-roads into the Scandinavian market, targeting the Tour Operators, Tourists and Agents of the region. The team led by Sharjah International Airport comprised Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Sharjah National Hotels, Sharjah Grand Hotel, Millennium Hotel Sharjah, Coral Beach Resort and Sharjah Airport Travel Agency. The Sharjah exhibition stand was one the most attractive ones in the event and was one of the busiest stands at the exhibition, said a spokesman. Sharjah Airport Authority is already playing host to tour operators like My Travel, as a Transit Point for many flights operating from Sweden to Orient countries, Kathmandu, Phuket etc. The Airport expects a rise in the number of travellers accessing Sharjah during the forthcoming winter. Similar exhibitions and trade shows are expected to project Sharjah Airport as a perfect gateway to a great holiday, where beaches, ultra-modern hotels, shopping facilities, rich heritage, culture, rooted tradition and ultimate security is guaranteed to the visitor. Around 45 journalists representing leading dailies and television channels who attended the fair were hosted at a press conference, where the media persons were presented with details on the emirate, its landmarks, prestigious sites, attractions and interests.
