BTA Promoting Britain as the number one tourist destination for Middle East travellers was top priority for the British Tourist Authority (BTA) on its first participation at the MTF.
"Britain has had a booming summer this year. Things have been very positive," says Mark Miller, general manager, Middle East and Indian Sub-Continent, British Tourism Authority. "We are promoting Britain as the top destination in Europe for Middle East travellers. They will have no problems in travelling to Britain. Visas can be obtained within 24 hours." Another scheme of interest in the Middle East will be the Premiership product. "Exclusively through the International Academy, young players of all abilities can now play and train with the best soccer clubs in Britain. They can even get a team shirt and feel part of the side," Miller said. Britain has witnessed a 23 per cent increase in the number of visitors from the Middle East and Mediterranean region over the last five years, according to Miller. "This region will always be our key market," he said.
