Ismailoglu ... expansion of routes

Turkish Airlines is looking to enhance the awareness and perception of its brand at the ATM, besides highlighting its newest features and services.

'We will have a special Batman vs Superman booth to engage our audience and spread awareness about the airline’s partnership with the biggest Hollywood blockbuster of the year, Batman vs Superman: The Dawn of Justice. The airline will also be offering visitors the opportunity to enter a lucky draw to win air tickets to the destination of their choice,' says Emre Ismailoglu, general manager for Dubai and Northern Emirates.

The airline’s plans for expansion of business include increasing the number of routes and frequencies, in addition to the number of overall aircraft worldwide.

'We already added 33 new planes in 2015 and we recently reached a total of 304 aircraft consisting of a nice mix of narrow and wide bodied planes. By the end of 2016, we will have 43 aircraft delivered and we are currently aiming to deliver 220 orders by 2021,' he says.

'Our strategic plans also include expanding in Africa and the US, which are both very important markets for us,' he adds.

Referring to the market conditions, he says although they are tough, 'we believe we are equipped to handle them'. The world is going through difficult times and many countries have to be avoided on certain flight routes, translating to wastage of fuel. This can sometimes make things more challenging but being a global airline Turkish is always able to find solutions.

While many large economies are facing challenging times, the number of travellers in other new and emerging markets is growing. 'We plan to capitalise on this to combat the situation. We are well-equipped to cope with tough conditions,' he says.
