Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is organising the Thailand Splash and Spice Festival again this year, but for a period of three months. The expanded festival is part of this year’s tourism campaign Discover Thainess.
Held in collaboration with Visa International, the event will cover school summer holidays and the Thai New Year, Songkran, to ensure maximum patronage from both local residents and foreign visitors. The campaign, which was launched in 2012, also leads to a commensurate growth in average visitor expenditure and length of stay.
The event will also include some restaurants in four- to five-star hotels in Thailand’s six major tourist destinations: Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Samui. Here patrons can opt for the One Price Point Menu options, prices starting from THB 749++ ($23) per person for lunch and THB 1,499++ ($45) per person for dinner.
International arrivals to Thiland are expected to rise by 13 per cent to 28 million this year, and revenue from foreign visitors by 16 per cent to THB 1.35 trillion ($40.9 billion).
