A five-strong Abu Dhabi tourism industry delegation has taken further steps in securing a slice of the emerging outbound tourism market from the Balkans following participation at the recent Belgrade Tourism Fair in Serbia.
For the second consecutive year, Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) took its promotional message to the Serbian capital Belgrade, with the destination enjoying an enhanced partner country status at the fair’s 37th chapter.
The Abu Dhabi pavilion, featuring returning participants Etihad Airways and Le Méridien Abu Dhabi hotel, was also joined by Abu Dhabi-based tour operator Al Burj Travel and Tours, The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort and Bin Majid Hotels and Resorts, operators of two Abu Dhabi city hotels.
“We identified the Serbian market last year as one with potential for the growing leisure and corporate markets following the integration of Air Serbia into the Etihad Airways Partners network,” says Mubarak Al Nuaimi, director, Promotions and Overseas Offices, TCA Abu Dhabi.
“This year’s show attracted 70,000 visitors, evidence that our pioneering approach in developing links with Serbia has the potential to unlock access to a growing outbound tourism market from this region of Europe. There was significant interest in our range of attractions, resorts and experiences which we are confident will convert into bilateral business for our partners,” adds Al Nuaimi. There are double-daily direct flights between the respective nation’s capitals.
