THE six-month-long incentive programme, Swiss Pass SuperStar, by Switzerland Tourism, in collaboration with Rail Europe and Swiss Travel System, received an overwhelming response with six winners in the first two months, May and June, winning three prizes every month.

The programme, launched in GCC markets (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait) from May to October 2014, introduces two interesting platforms to collect points then enrol for monthly prizes.

Sixty per cent of the points have to be earned from Quiz modules designed to educate travel agents on Swiss Travel System products. The other 40 per cent points should be earned on registered sold Swiss tickets on www.myswitzerland.com/superstar

The Swiss Pass entitles holders to unlimited travel on consecutive days throughout the rail, bus and boat Swiss Travel System network. The Swiss Pass is available for four, eight, 15 or 22 days or one month.

The six winners for May and June are Ahmed Hashem and Shujath Yar Khan (Al Zouman Travel, Saudi Arabia), Sherad Eruthayaraj, Adrian De Rose and Raji Thomas (Al Rostamani Travel, UAE, Umer Rashid (Al Tayyar Travel, Saudi Arabia). The winners for July and August will be announced on September 10. The monthly prizes are (iPad mini, iPod Touch and gift vouchers).

Commenting on the programme’s outcome, Matthias Albrecht, director GCC, Switzerland Tourism, said: “We have received great response for the programme and are looking at increasing the response until end of the programme by end of October. This initiative has helped generate brand awareness in GCC amongst the frontline staff in the travel trade about the Swiss rail passes, and has helped incentivise and motivate the trade to market this product, and thereby promote the destination.”

Waleed Ahmed, regional manager, Rail Europe Middle East, said: “This being our first year of the programme in GCC markets and having received 225 registrations in the first two months, which reflects the rising interest of travel agents to learn more about destination and rail products.

“The grand prize will be offered to top lucky performers by December 2014 as an all-inclusive seven-day trip in Switzerland. This is an inspiring and motivating incentive for all agents to keep loyal to the programme until end of October and to be rewarded for their accumulative sales in 2014.”
