CORINTHIA Hotel London is promoting its new initiative based on the theme of good quality sleep at the Arabian Travel Market this year. Due to be launched on the May 12, ‘The Power of Sleep’ positions the five-star hotel as the ideal place for GCC residents to wind down in London and relax after either demanding business trips or a leisurely stay, so that they can enjoy all that London has to offer. The hotel has integrated the sleep concept into the food menu, hotel rooms and spa. For guests that prefer packages, a range of one and two-night sleep packages are available so that they can enjoy the best quality of sleep and be on top form to enjoy their stay in London.
Orla O’Donovan, public relations manager, Corinthia Hotel London, says, “We are pleased to team up with leading medical experts to design packages and solutions that are in line with the theme of sleep. We want to highlight how important the quality of sleep is. Even though sleep is necessary for the optimal functioning of our bodies, a majority of the people tend to under prioritise sleep. Reasons include living in a fast paced society and a tendency to be connected and available through email and mobile technology, even whilst on holiday. As a result they do not enjoy a high quality of sleep which often results in a few sleepless nights or insomnia that lasts a lifetime.” As part of the launch, UK-based Physiologist, Dr Guy Meadows, author of ‘The Sleep Book: How to Sleep Well Every Night’ and the founder of the Sleep School, will be offering guests one-to-one sleep coaching consultations by appointment. His pioneering approach on beating insomnia without drugs or props is based on mindful based cognitive therapy and use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Hand-outs by Dr Guy with top tips for good sleep will also be distributed in the hotel rooms which have already been prepared to enhance the sleep concept. Dubbed ‘the sleep rooms,’ these hotel rooms have the best mattresses in the sleep business made by Hypnos, blackout curtains, sound proof walls, 100 per cent cotton linen from the Pratesi Line linen, Rivolta, and special pillows and duvets made by Mühldorfer ranging from goose down to polyester, depending on the guests’ preference or allergies.Another highlight is the premier of two short films that were created by artists in residence, Zawe Ashton and David Petch. They won the competition to create and film their short films while taking up residency in the hotel for one month. Both films have riveting story lines that give due credit to the Power of Sleep theme. The flagship ESPA Life, a next-generation spa housed across four floors of the hotel, will offer spa treatments for rest and relaxation. The ‘Sleep Ritual’ includes cleansing foot rituals followed by treatments such as polarity balance bodywork to counter the negative effects of using mobile phones and laptops. To complement this, guests can enjoy the sleep menu of wind-down food and drinks that has been designed by nutritional therapist Jeannette Hyde and executive chef Garry Hollihead. The sleep menu will be available at all restaurants, the hotel rooms and the spa. O’Donovan says, “The Middle East is an important market for us. While the London luxury hotel market remains a competitive one, Corinthia Hotel London continues to grow within this market and we have done extremely well compared to 2012.” By Jan D’Sa
