Medieval theme ... Oxley, Dr Faqih and Vasseur reveal details about the festival

AL AREEN Palace & Spa in Bahrain, in association with Eub2b Promotions, will host a medieval themed market called 1001 Nights Souq, with authentic stalls and vendors role-playing medieval characters.

The festival was unveiled by Eub2B Promotions managing director Graham Oxley, Al Areen Palace & spa advisor Dr Essa Faqih, and hotel manager Pierre Marie Vasseur at a press conference last month.

Set amidst lush greenery, the market will cover several distinct areas such as retail market stalls, stage performances, camel rides, horse rides and carriages, children’s play area, falconers, strolling musicians , Moroccan-style water sellers, acrobats, magicians, jugglers, fire eaters and a museum featuring calligraphy, brass decoration and other artisan products. Delectable culinary offerings from hotel’s menu will also be available in themed cafes and food stalls.

“Al Areen Palace & Spa is definitely looking forward to opening our doors for this one-of-a-kind event,” says Dr Faqih. “The event aims to showcase the property not only as an escape from the city but as Bahrain’s premier destination, offering elegance, comfort and world-class events for family entertainment.”

1001 Nights Souq begins March 7 and will continue every Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm until May 31.

The entrance fee is BD2 (about $5). Silver jewellery, perfumes, incense, candles, clay pots, brass trays and ornaments, spices, nuts and candy will be on sale.
