THE Radisson Blu Kuwait has reopened after a three year renovation period. The property holds particular significance, both within the company history – as the first Radisson Blu hotel outside of Scandinavia, and as an iconic meeting place for the capital city.
Wolfgang M. Neumann, president & CEO of The Rezidor Hotel Group, says: “The re-opening of the Radisson Blu Hotel Kuwait signifies the launch of a new chapter of history for the property, which opened in 1980 with my predecessor, Kurt Ritter, as general manager. From this property, Kurt grew the Radisson Blu brand across the Middle East, Europe and Africa, and made Rezidor the internationally successful company that it is today.”
The newly-improved Radisson Blu Hotel Kuwait underwent KD15 million ($52.87 million) of investment, which has transformed the property, both structurally and decoratively. The hotel now offers a five-star modernised interior, with the introduction of Sky Lounge – a glass-encased rooftop facility with panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf, exclusively reserved for Business Class and Suite guests.
The hotel features 191 guest rooms including six junior suites, 16 executive suites, six deluxe suites, one admiral suite, and one presidential suite. The décor of the guest rooms and suites will alternate between three distinctive styles – ‘Naturally Cool’, ‘And Relax’ and ‘NY Mansion House’. Of particular note, the presidential suite has been extended and upgraded, and now features an extra 55sqm of space, and the installation of floor-to-ceiling windows in both the living room and bedroom.
The hotel’s food and beverage options have also undergone improvements. Eedam Café & Gourmet Shop will now include Starbucks Coffee products on the menu. Continuing to serve authentic Asian cuisine, the Peacock Restaurant has also been enhanced, through the use of wood, glass and cloth decorations, along with paintings and framed Chinese artefacts.
Dasman Ballroom is an additional facility which has been developed for events and meetings, with 360 sq m of space that can accommodate 200 persons at capacity. It is fully equipped with modern audio-visual and communications equipment, three adjacent meeting rooms, and a pre-function area, as well as separate lobby entrance for car access.
