ONE of Sharjah’s leading touristic destinations, Al Majaz Waterfront, has welcomed a record breaking 1.2 million people during the first half of this year, a marked increase compared to visitor numbers between January and June last year.
According to Al Majaz Waterfront management, visitors from within the UAE and abroad flocked to the state-of-the-art complex during this time to enjoy its many world-class leisure, entertainment and culinary experiences and attractions, which include the Sharjah Fountain, Mini Golf, Play Area, the Splash Park Area and Maraya Art Park.
Speaking of the popularity of Al Majaz Waterfront, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) COO Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer says: “Shurooq’s aim is to develop Sharjah as a premier tourist destination, and as such the Authority seeks to continuously boost and support the growth of its various projects by maintaining the highest standards and developing exceptional facilities.”
Al Majaz Waterfront Manager Mohammed Fadhil Al Mazroui, attributed the overwhelming turnout to a number of crucial factors, saying: “Al Majaz Waterfront’s strategic location in the city, its beautiful natural surroundings, its welcoming family atmosphere, and the quality and diversity of amenities and services offered are all factors that contribute to the destination’s growing success.”
He further credited the dynamic movement and increase in the number of visitors to the tireless efforts exerted in planning, promoting and continually developing the services and experiences provided to visitors.
The Dh120 million ($32.6 million) Al Majaz Waterfront was opened on March 26, 2012, and is situated in Khalid Lagoon.
