SOUQ Waqif Boutique Hotels, a collection of five-star luxury boutique destinations, has launched a cultural experience for guests and visitors with its dhow tours.
The cruises are designed to allow guests to enjoy scenic tours aboard traditional dhows, featuring live entertainment accompanied by exquisite dining options, as they sail past the Doha skyline.
“The dhow may be a relic of the past, but it is a fact that it was once a major means of transportation in Qatar. Through these dhow tours, which are created to complete the real experience of being in Qatar, we aim to offer guests a glimpse into the country’s rich history, as they enjoy the views of its present-day landmarks,” said Abdo Kayali, group director of sales and marketing.
Made of teak wood, the hand-made crafted antique dhows are designed to reflect the authentic cultural heritage of Qatar. The dhow tours run twice a week, every Sunday and Thursday, and last a total of 40 minutes each, including views of key locations in Doha such as the Corniche, Museum of Islamic Art and Doha’s financial district, amongst others.
Dhow tours will include a variety of packages such as a romantic dinner for two, family celebrations and special sunset cruises.
Managed by Al Rayyan Hospitality, Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels is an exclusive collection of boutique hotels currently operating five hotels – Al Najada, Al Mirqab, Arumaila, Musheireb and Al Jasra alongside accommodations at The Residences.
