Third successful year for Cathic

THREE hundred delegates from the regional and international markets attended the third Turkey & Neighbours Hotel Investment Conference (Cathic) that was held on May 29 in Istanbul. The conference featured a networking session, discussions on the development of the region’s tourism infrastructure and Turkey’s growth, innovation and investments as well as hosted a reception hosted by the newly-renovated Marmara Taksim Hotel.

The event was attended by Turkish business leaders, hotel investors, developers, economists, bankers and hotel industry analysts from the region.

Fresh tastes at Yas Marina

YAS Marina in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is marking a significant milestone in its expansion by announcing an appetizing line-up of five new restaurants and a host of new features and facilities to open at the Marina later this year. In addition to the new restaurants, a new management office (Capitainerie), children’s play area, interactive fountain and dedicated pedestrian-friendly waterfront walkways are also set to add to the Marina’s community-focused atmosphere. Eateries set to open include Spanish tapas restaurant Diablito Food and Music, Iris, a well-known Beirut based rooftop lounge and restaurant, Ornina Restaurant and Lounge, Café d’Alsace, a brassiere-style café and bakery and Rozanah, a contemporary Lebanese restaurant.

Due for completion in the third quarter of 2013, Yas Marina’s current expansion project, will complement the growth of Yas Island and enhance its status as a leading destination of the GCC.

 

Hotel Show readies for 14th edition

FOLLOWING the Middle East Hotel Awards held in May, The Hotel Show 2013 gears up for the second leg of its activities with the a industry conference from September 28 to 30 at Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, UAE.

Organized by dmg::events, the event will feature exhibitors across five core profiles, including: Interiors and Design, Operating Equipment and Supplies, Technology and Facility Management, Outdoor and Resort Experience and the newest addition, Horeca, representing hotels, restaurants and café supplies and equipment. The Hotel Show will also look at investment, architecture, and hotel construction.

The Middle East Spa Awards, now considered a benchmark event for the Spa industry since first launching in 2008, will also take place during The Hotel Show as well as launch a new event, The Leisure Show, co-located alongside the show this year, featuring the latest pools, spas, fitness and sports equipment. 

 

Reed launches IBTM Africa

REED Travel Exhibitions has announced that the launch of IBTM Africa 2014, which will be held from April 28 to 30 at the Cape Town International Conference Centre (CTICC) complex. IBTM Africa will be one of three co-located events at the CTICC that form ‘Africa Travel Week’ which also includes ILTM Africa (International Luxury Travel Market) to be held on the same dates and WTM Africa (World Travel Market) which will take place on May 2 and 3, 2014.

The event will have 50 Mice and Business Travel exhibitors in its first year with a combination of African and international suppliers including hotels and venues, national/ state convention bureaus, travel/ destination management companies, event management and entertainment suppliers, professional conference organisers, airlines and technology providers. A number of top level decision makers will be hosted as buyers, as well as buyers who place outbound and domestic business will also be included.
