Four Points makes its Saudi debut
STARWOOD Hotels and Resorts Worldwide has launched its Four Points by Sheraton brand in Saudi Arabia with the new Four Points by Sheraton Riyadh Khaldia. Owned by Khaldia Towers Company, the property (left) has 376 guest rooms including 138 suites and include a fitness centre and spa, both available later this year. The hotel operates two dining venues, and in early 2014, will open the Panorama restaurant on the 26th floor.
Ritz-Carlton heads to Marrakech
THE Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has unveiled plans for The Ritz-Carlton Marrakech in Morocco. Developed around the Jenan Amar Polo Fields, which is part of an upscale community on the Takerkoust Road, the fortress style resort will feature 60 hotel suites and 20 hotel villas of two, three and five bedrooms, bars and restaurants, a luxury spa and related leisure facilities. Construction of the property is due to commence in the fourth quarter of 2013, with completion of the hotel projected for the third quarter of 2016.
Shangri-La Bosphorus dazzles
TURKEY’S capital Istanbul welcomed its newest luxury hotel with the opening of the Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul last month.
The hotel’s 186 rooms are said to be the most spacious in Istanbul, while nearly all of its 17 suites have private terraces offering Bosphorus vistas. The ultimate indulgence is the Shangri-La Suite, which has three terraces overlooking the Old City, Asian shores and the Bosphorus Bridge.
Several speciality restaurants are available and the hotel also features CHI, a spa with eight private spa suites offering Asian and Turkish treatments.
Summer opening for Sofitel The Palm
SOFITEL Luxury Hotels is all set to open doors of its Polynesian themed resort in Dubai, UAE, this summer. Located on the iconic Palm Jumeirah, Sofitel The Palm has 361 guest rooms and suites, as well as 182 fully serviced apartments.
A wide array of dining offerings are available including the all-day dining Manava, Moana seafood restaurant, the Porterhouse restaurant and bar, and Hong Loong Chinese restaurant. Other outlets include Cha House, Bottega Italian deli, Maui Beach Restaurant and Bar, Habano Cigar Lounge and the Lobby Lounge. A 2,500-sq-m So Spa will provide traditional Tahitian treatments while So Fit will provide guests with top-of-the-line Technogym equipment.
IHG to open Staybridge Suites
INTERCONTINENTAL Hotels Group (IHG) has signed an agreement with Dyafah Al Mutahida to open a 200-key Staybridge Suites in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
As the first Staybridge Suites in Saudi Arabia, the suites have modern, spacious interiors designed to create a homely residential environment and meet the needs of extended-stay business travellers and families on holiday. Suites will feature fully-equipped kitchens, separate working areas, entertainment and communication facilities including free wi-fi.

Shaza coming to Doha
SHAZA Hotels is increasing its presence in the region with a project in Doha, Qatar. The Shaza Doha will offer guests 180 rooms and suites, three dining venues, an executive club, the signature Shaza Hammam and Spa, an innovative Kids’ Club, and the country’s first art gallery to be integrated into the lobby, when it opens doors in spring 2016.
Shaza Doha will also have one of the country’s first business clubs, two ballrooms, media centre and the Shaza signature Shalimar lounge.
